Rapunzel Mani / Pedi (aka "I want something that I want")

Well hello Girlies!

I'm back!!  I have an extra special post for you today.

A few weeks ago I saw a post on the Disney Store facebook page regarding a new limited edition 17" doll....not just any doll, but a Rapunzel doll from the end of Tangled or from Tangled Ever After featuring her wedding dress and SHORT BROWN HAIR!!  It was love at first sight and I scrambled to get as much information as I could.

I feel like such a Gork!  All I could think of was the end credits of Tangled....

I do want something that I want....and I was definitely telling myself that I NEED her!

It seems these limited edition dolls are quite sought after, so I made plans to make her mine!  I'm a bit superstitious, so these plans included a Rapunzel themed mani / pedi for good luck.

Below are the colors I used for my pedicure:

OPI Meet Me on the Star Ferry and Essie As Gold as It Gets

First I started with 2 coats of Meet Me on the Star Ferry

MMotSF is a pretty and sparkly mauve color.  The name reminded me of the boat Rapunzel and Flynn ride in to watch the lantern festival.  I decided to add 2 coats of Essie As Gold as it Gets to simulate the lanterns.

Just look at all those golden shimmery bits of light!

Now for the manicure...that was the easy part!  2 coats of Rapunzel from the Disney Princess Designer Collection (now long sold out ~ sorry!)

Rapunzel looks a bit shimmery and mysterious in the bottle and there is a good reason for that....

The reason for the mysterious shimmer....it dries to a lovely "suede" finish! (Rapunzel is actually quite a close cousin if not a dupe for a HTF OPI Suede that is also in my collection) Gorgeous and no top coat needed!!

That brought me to....Presale Day!

I woke up at 4:45 and arrived in line at 6:07.  I was 3rd!!!  Wahoo!  Only 3 hours plus till the door opened....but I know I'm getting my doll!

Once the store had opened for presales we were able to see the doll in person.  Say it with me now, "Oooooo!  Aaaaah"!

With my presale voucher in hand, I headed home.

When I got home, I decided to celebrate by adding As Gold as it Gets to my mani...

Wow!  If you've ever put a top coat on a "suede" polish, you know that will bring the hidden shimmer out of the suede, well add AGaiG to that and KaPoW!!  Shimmer and sparkle and a very unique layered effect.

Well Girlies, that's all for today!  I missed you and I missed blogging.  I hope to be back now with fairly regular posts.  If you are interested in getting a better look at Rapunzel (the doll) I'll be taking some pics when I pick her up on March 28th.  Have a great day!!

STS is my favorite!!  I had to buy a back up of this one for sure!  Gorgeous multi-colored glitter in a teal jelly base.

In the bottle, these too look pretty close, but on the nail they are quite different!

IAA is a gorgeous shimmery blue foil

HYB is a deep dark teal blue with hidden shimmer that adds quite a bit of depth.

OPI Miss Universe!!!!

Okay, this should technically be the last post I am working on, but I am excited that I scored these before seeing a bazillion reviews!

I actually stopped by Ed Wyse to look for some Zoyas and was giddy to see the new Miss Universe collection!!  (They also had the fall touring collection....under a plastic case....it was kinda cute to see it all locked up!)

There they are in all their beauty!

from left to right we have:  Congeniality is my Middle Name, Crown Me Already, It's MY Year, and Swimsuit...Nailed It!  2 coats each....no base or top coat used for swatches...

CIMMN is a pretty berry shade....sort of a jelly consistency with a bit of subtle shimmer.  In my opinion, this is the weak link in the collection, but still pretty.

CMA is a really amazing mix of all sizes of silver glitters....VERY blingy!

Check out the mega glitter on CMA!

IMY is so shimmery it is almost blinding!  Gorgeous shade!  Very similar to Rally Pretty Pink but more purpley.

SNI is a teal-y electric blue with a foil-like finish.  Absolutely phenomenal blue!

Check out OPI's Miss Universe for yourself (in stores now or soon!)....which is your favorite?  Are you taking any of these babies home?

4th of July Mani / Pedi

Hi girlies!  Yipes!  My list of to-do blog posts is in the double digits!  Work has been busy and on top of that I spent nearly every waking moment the past few weeks getting ready for our 4th of July BBQ and fireworks.

I am trying my best to get through my list as fast as possible....there is a lot of good stuff!!

I was so preoccupied with preparations that I didn't give much thought to what I wanted to do with my nails.  When I finally needed a break from cleaning, gardening, and cooking I decided on a fairly simply Red, White, and Blue combo with added glitter top coat in honor of the fireworks.

Here we have all the ingredients...all lined up in a row.  The base coat used was Seche Clear.  The top coat used was Seche Vite.

Picking my red was the easiest part!  Zoya's America was begging to part of this patriotic mani / pedi.  After 2 coats of America, I added 1 coat of Claire's red hex glitter, then I added 1 coat of Revlon Slipper.

The white was pretty easy too.  At the time I painted my nails for the holiday weekend, I only had 2 white polishes....and one is kinda thick and old.  So, Sinful Colors Snow Me White it is!!  After 2 coats of SMW, I added 1 coat of Claire's blue hex glitter, then 1 coat of Revlon Star.

Picking a blue shade was very hard for me.  I thought I had a fair amount of blues in my collection, but they all seemed to light or too dark...and none of them were the right creme to go with America and SMW...so I picked the blue I liked best with the red and white and ended up with OPI DS Magic.  I have to admit I felt a little blasphemous for using Magic for the first time in a combo mani...and one that would be covered in glitter at that...  After 2 coats of OPI DS Magic, I used 1 coat of Sally Hanson In The Spotlight followed by 1 coat of Revlon Belle.

I did end up rather liking the result.

I don't usually pick my polish to match my outfits as I usually keep my nail color for a week and don't like to be quite that matchy matchy, but I do try to avoid clashing when possible.  I picked out a marine themed outfit for the 5th that went quite well with the 4th of July nails.

I love this necklace!!  A gorgeous iridescent lavender shell with gold edges....I got it at Goodwill....SCORE!! It went nicely with my royal blue faux-suede tank.

I have a bazillion pairs of sandals, but these are definitely among my most favorite.  I bought them at Ether....the CUTEST little shoe boutique in the Pearl District of Portland.

:)  My Felix Rey for Target bag always makes me smile!  It has gold leather braided handles with gold toggle hardware.  The bag itself is mostly wavy blue and cream canvas with 2 beautiful fish, each featuring metallic leather, jewel eyes, and large sequin scales.  I love this bag, but it is much too pretty for the beach!  I would be mortified if it got dirty!!

Random Recent Hauls

Hey Girlies!

I've gotten a little backlogged with successful polish hunts recently, so I've decided to purge several at once...here goes:

First a couple of dusties purchased from a salon in Cedar Hills Crossing:

China Glaze Pom Pom & China Glaze Cosmic

Both these shades are from China Glaze's Specialty Collection.....one of my favorite collections of all time!

The next 2 were purchased at Fred Meyer's.

LA Splash Baby Octopus

I love the pretty rainbows!!  Dancing prisms always remind me of Pollyanna!

My last Revlon scented polish!  Somehow I never got Pretty in Papaya, so I fixed that.  I have all the Revlon scented polishes so far with the exception of the beach and ocean scented ones....I love Strawberry Shortcake dolls and scented markers not the scented stickers of bizarre things!

From a different Fred Meyer's we have another LA Splash.

LA Splash Embellished

Absolutely breathtaking.  The swatch is droolworthy!

The next 2 are from Ulta:

Essence Irreplaceable & OPI DS Jewel

Both these polishes are incredibly hard to photograph.  Jewel is almost a wine color with an olive gold duochrome to it and Irreplaceable is a very light beige with subtle gold shimmer throughout.

Another day at Ulta:

I picked up Essence Where Is The Party?

a very pretty purple to teal to green multichrome

My first Glam Slam duo!  OPI Spark De Triomphe & OPI White Shatter

and Glam Slam duo #2 OPI Rally Pretty Pink and OPI Red Shatter

From Sally Beauty Supply:

Finger Paints Art You Wondering? & Finger Paints Purple Palette

From Target:

Sally Hansen In The Spotlight & Sally Hansen Snappy Sprinkles

From Fred Meyer's:

OPI Not Like the Movies & OPI Teenage Dream

OPI Last Friday Night & OPI The One That Got Away

Along with OPI black shatter, these colors make up the OPI Katy Perry collection

From Ulta:

OPI Skull and Glossbones & OPI Steady as She Roes

OPI Planks a Lot & OPI Sparrow Me the Drama

OPI Stranger Tides & OPI Mermaid's Tears

together with OPI Silver Shatter these colors make up the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean collection

Whew!!  That feel like a huge load off my mind!  More detailed reviews and swatches to come.
